Game of Thrones Season 6: Hound is Back?

HE HAS already dropped one spoiler of sorts about Game of Thrones season six, but has actor Ian McShane let another one or even two slip out?

The 73-year-old star seemed to confirm that Stannis Baratheon, portrayed by Stephen Dillane, had indeed bitten the dust at the end of season five.

In a recent interview the actor from Blackburn spoke about being offered a role in the HBO fantasy and appeared to give away a spoiler.

“They asked me if I wanted to do Game of Thrones and I said, 'Sure, I’ll be able to see my old pals Charlie Dance and Stephen Dillane’ and they said, 'No, we’ve killed them off’,” Ian told The Telegraph.

In the Game of Thrones season five finale, it looked like Stannis was pretty much set to meet his maker as Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) held a sword to his throat.

However, viewers were not privy to pivotal moment - a rarity in a show that never shies away from gruesome violence - suggesting that she had spared him.

Despite programme makers and cast members reassuring fans that Stannis is dead - much like Jon Snow (Kit Harington) - there has been scepticism over whether this is really case and Ian may have just confirmed that Stannis did kick the bucket after all.

Along with the potential spoiler about Stannis, Ian also dropped teasers in another interview this week when he spoke more about his character.

During the radio spot on BBC 5 Live, Ian described his character as “a former warrior who has renounced violence, and now leads this peace cult”, before going on to talk about resurrecting a recently deceased character.

“I have nursed a beloved character, a much-loved character back to life, and it reintroduces … I won’t say ‘him,’ or ‘her,’ but it’s a character that’s much-loved who everyone thinks has died, but he’s not dead,” Ian teased.

He continued: “Me and my band of peace-loving brothers and sisters have nursed him back to life, so it introduces him again.”

The Lovejoy actor asked his interviewers who they thought he was referring to, they replied saying either The Hound (Rory McCann) or Jon Snow.

“Hmm, I’ll leave you with that one, I think you might guess which one it is. It’s not the latter. It might be the former,” he cheekily added.

Actor Rory is believed to have been seen filming on season six of the series, which would fit in with Ian’s hints.

Ian went on to reveal that his character was something of a one-off and would only be appearing in one episode, suggesting that he either gets killed off or is not that important.
